Imagery has been used in healing since the times of ancient shamans. In this segment of a two-part program, Dr. Jeanne Achterberg explains the holographic model of the brain and how mental images mediate between conscious intentions and physiology.  In so doing, Dr. Achterberg refers to a growing body of research which indicates that the use of mental imagery can effect specific areas of the functioning, including the immune system.

Jeanne Achterberg, Ph.D., was a past President of the Association for Transpersonal Psychology. Author of Imagery in Healing and Woman As Healer, she was on the faculty of the Institute for Transpersonal Psychology in Menlo Park, California, and the Saybrook Institute in San Francisco.
